PRODUCING AND ARRANGING PROJECTS

I just love to write and record and produce music. Let’s make something cool.

My home studio is pretty vibey. It’s not a fully-functioning commercial space, but we can do some pretty great things here. It’s designed to be cozy and to fuel creativity. I have unique collection of gear and noisemakers. Close proximity to dozens of taco trucks and a good Thai spot. Big backyard with a fire pit. N64 with Goldeneye and MarioKart. Parks with bike paths and disc golf course within walking distance.

I also love to work in other studios. I have relationships with a few regional studios and engineers. I also have access to spaces and equipment through my work with the Grinnell College Music Department, including a concert hall with a 9’ Steinway grand (as well as timpani, a celeste, tubular bells…).

As a producer I’m dedicated and efficient. I can help see your project through from song idea to mastered media for your friends to listen to while they cook dinner. I put significant effort into any project I produce, and the most successful projects I’ve worked on have been with artists that bring an equal effort.

As an engineer I’m scrappy but disciplined. I don’t always have the best gear or proper know-how, but I’m prepared and ready to adapt to the needs of the session.

I know how to uncover what's in my head, or discover what's not there yet. I know how to consider an audience and their desired experience without sacrificing “artistic integrity.”

My general approach / guideline is “high-standards, low-stakes.” We’re gonna make the absolute best thing possible, and no one’s safety or wellbeing is on the line.
